Translated from Cati Restrepo‘s post on the Convergentes blog.
Beginning the month of February, Don Álvaro wrote about the ConVerGentes’ resolutions for the present year:
To achieve this we wish to commit those who have wandered off a bit, give better trainining and assign tasks to those who are working and invite new members to join our little community. We also commit to begin taking organizational steps and preparation to extend our experience to three other libraries in the city.
In this way the first step to the reactivation that almost two months later has been fruitful, reflected not only on the more constant publishing in the collective blog but in the individual activity of all those who carry the title of ConVerGentes.
1. The most admirable hiker of the group was giving the first wrokshops in one of the municipalities of Antioquia, and “The beauty of Ituango” will surely give plenty to talk about.
The Catholic University of the North has proposed to us to potentiate the interest of a group in the Diocesano Juan Pablo II school, most of them girls, who wish to use the new tecnologies of self-publishing through blogs to write about their lives. The idea is that they can do it through photographs, texts and videos, both individually and on the group blog “The secret beauty of Ituango” which will soon see the light.
2. Miss Ligeia has been one of the most active, and along with Akenatón produced a video that puts in evidence the problem with public spaces in La Loma. In my personal opinion, it is a concise and well thought product whose subject matter was also published as text.
La Loma is a county where children’s playgrounds don’t exist, although some neighborhoods in our county have soccer fields, most are in terrible conditions.
3. Akenatón gave us a beautiful description of what it means to be a clown:
Being a clown doesn’t mean you dress up to be funny. The clown isn’t in the nose, or in the big shoes; being a clown is in the heart. The red nose is nothing but a bit of warm and beating heart on your face. The clown is a state of the soul, which means that the costume doesn’t hide it but frees it. The word costume obeys to the notion of a lie, but the word liberation obeys that of truth. One does not dress up as a clown; one celebrates with one’s purest self, and dresses up for the occasion.
4. From Esas voces que nos llegan, we received news of the VI Biblioredes encounter in Chile. The participation of Mr. Argos has made us feel proud to belong to a collective which is currently mentioned in many places.
5. Xady tells us about the paradoxes of Facebook
- Hey and would you like to go out again. I posted.
- Sure thing, look.. hmmmm… normally I don’t like to give out my phone number so then lets do something, search for me on FACEBOOK as Sofía Salcedo and you’ll find me there, I’ll give you my email and we’ll keep in touch online:::
- OK, then see you on the web!
6. And from Parloteando, Claudia speaks about the Security in Medellín.
On one side the institutions establish laws and on the other side, “the others” impose their security in the neighborhoods of Medellin… it is enough to listen to the echoes on the different areas, and if we by chance have friends there, everyone agrees on the same discourse.
As you can see, the decision to reactivate the group activity is also being reflected on the individual blogs. We invite you to continue following our process.
